which statistical tool is to be used to analyse the impact of inlation on sales and profits? tell me what i have to actually calculate i.e, standard deviation or correlation etc.

To assess the impact of a variable on another, you want some kind of regression model... actually, I would use MyNetResearch's Research Methods Adviser. Just answer the questions and it will recommend the best method of analysis.
